Kaziranga bearing the brunt of stone quarrying in Karbi hills

A one-and-half kilometer trek through the verdant Panbari Reserve Forest, one of the additions to Kaziranga National Park, is normally a tranquil walk amid chirping of diverse species of birds. There is everything on this stretch that a nature lover can ask for. At the end of the route, one gets the glimpse of lush green hills of the adjoining Karbi Anglong district. However, the serenity of this place has been disrupted by the constant sound of grinding from a stone quarry located on the periphery of the forest.
